Mami is at Madoka's side after she has helped Homura destroy Charlotte. Without Madoka's efforts, Mami would have likely been eaten as well. Mami has been through a tragic and devastating loss and is still struggling to cope with it. She is not perfect, and has many good qualities, but she becomes frustrated when she has to be the responsible one. She has quite a strong attachment to Madoka, being the first person to believe in her. Mami and Madoka both have a very close relationship with Homura and to a lesser extent Sayaka.

Mami is the first to help Madoka fight Kyoko's monsters. Soon she is seen at Madoka's side trying to console her over her loss to Kyoko. Mami tells Madoka that she can find the strength to defeat Kyoko again. Mami was also there at the hospital, until she saw Charlotte's Grief Seed. She followed Sayaka to the entrance of the labyrinth to look for Mami. As a result, Mami and Madoka have had an immediate and warm friendship since. From the beginning of the series, Mami has the closest connection with Madoka and Homura. Mami has also become a source of inspiration for Madoka for her destiny that she seems to lack. Mami is extremely devoted to Homura, protecting her from the witch Charlotte. Despite this, it is clear that she likes Madoka because of her kindness and consideration for others. Mami is a Puella Magi in everything she does and values her family and friends above all else. Mami also cares for Sayaka, as she tries to help out Sayaka whenever possible.
Kyoko's family tragedy takes place on her 16th birthday when she lost her Rosso Phantasma, the ability to transform into the mad red witch, giving her the ability to give the curse of eternal servitude to any witch that she defeated. Mami was there to comfort Kyoko after this and to encourage her to move on and to have a good life.
